TALC meets on the first Thursday of the month from September - May. We will be meeting via ZOOM for September/October and hope to go back in person later this fall.
After dinner, TALC is led by college-age mentors who also live with chronic illness. Each month we have a small group discussion about a topic related to living with an illness/being a teenager, and do an interactive activity to learn a skill. The topic and skill changes each month, based on feedback from members.
After dinner, parents go to a separate room for their own group. This is an environment where parents of TALC participants can talk freely about the ways chronic illness impacts families. It is also a place to grow, learning how to help your children manage their chronic illness more independently. The parent council is an opportunity to process your role as a parent, and receive support from others in similar situations while learning ways to cope, manage stress, and focus on your own wellness.
